Allied
Shipbuilders is situated at the mouth of the Seymour River on
the north shore of Vancouver Harbour. The company began operations
in 1948 in False Creek, Vancouver and in 1961, acquired operations
of Burrard Shipyard and Marine Ways in Coal Harbour. The company
located to North Vancouver in 1967 at which time shipbuilding capacity
was increased to build vessels to 400 feet in length. Shops are
equipped for prefabrication of steelwork and piping and include
a joiner shop, machine shop and electrical shop. Allied performs
both construction of steel vessels up to 100,000 deadweight tonnes
and drydocking and repairs to wooden and steel vessels.

Allied
Shipbuilders ten-acre site has complete facilities
for on-site ship repairs, maintenance and modifications. Western
Machine Works and Coast Engineering Works, divisions of Allied
Shipbuilders manufacture patented hydraulic tow pin/hook units,
produce and repair shafting and stern gear equipment.
